Photo Challenge Days 11-15: Blue Sunset 13 Eyes Silhouette

Well, I’m discovering that I’m not updating like I should and really it’s not because I’m busy or anything.. Hold on, that’s exactly why.  I know, I know.. It’s a lame excuse but it’s the truth, busy and tired.

Day 11 was Something Blue, I just decided to find anything and everything with blue on it.  For example one of my disc for disc golf is blue…

Another example is my flashlight that is Ten’s version of his Sonic Screwdriver…

The next two pictures of Something Blue and also the Sunset that you’re about to see happened one late afternoon. I just wanted to get out of Wichita for a little bit and just drove, however the back roads that I took lead me all the way to Hesston, KS without even knowing it.   That’s okay, I was able to see some country side, a REALLY old cemetery, and a small small town that I’ve never heard of. Maybe you have?!?

Anyway, while in this tiny town of Furley, KS I saw this grain elevator and couldn’t resist taking a picture of it. I don’t know what it is about grain elevator’s.. But I do love taking pictures of them!

I then also saw this old abandoned house, I LOVE old houses! I was going to go up and take more photos of it and go inside, but when their is a sign that says ‘Keep Out or Die’… Well, I figured I wanted to live a little bit longer…

Day 12 was a Sunset and since I was already out in the country side, I took advantage of the opportunity!  I’ve said this before and I stick to what I say, Kansas Sunsets are simply the best ever!! I’ve seen plenty of other sunsets when I travel the U.S and Kansas beats them all… especially Missouri.  I have nothing else to say, so I’m just going to let you look at them…

Day 13 ironically was Yourself with 13 Things… Don’t worry, I’ll explain why I chose these 13 things. Let us begin shall we?!?

Thing 1: My favorite book: Catcher in the Rye.
Thing 2: Current book I’m reading, American Assassin.
Thing 3: My Cat in the Hat… He’s been with me since I was tiny.
Thing 4: My favorite movie: Rushmore.
Thing 5: The camera that started in all.
Thing 6: Bullet from the Civil War, that I found.
Thing 7: My handy dandy Chapstick, that I always use and always loose.
Thing 8: My very first Bible, given to me when I was born.
Thing 9: C-3PO action figure, nuff said.
Thing 10: R2D2, my second favorite character from Star Wars… Han is the first.
Thing 11: Photo of Camissa and I. Happens to be my favorite, she’s really cool. Probably why she’s my friend.
Thing 12: Concert ticket of FINALLY seeing my favorite band, U2.
Thing 13: Concert ticket of the first time and certainly not the last of seeing Wilco.

Their you go.  The 13 things that are my favorite, hold dear, or apart of me.  I had some other things, but I chose to not go with them.

Day 14 was Eyes, I wanted to capture many eyes from all types of people… Yeah, that didn’t get done.  I mainly wanted to capture people I didn’t know, walk up to them and ask if I could take a picture of their eyes.  Well.. I went up to this lady and did just that, she flipped me off and walk away.  I guess people just don’t get the beauty of art anymore.  So, your going to have to settle with my eyes…. And my freckles that still exist!

Lastly Day 15 was a Silhouette.. Eh, not really my thing but I have to do for the photo challenge right?!?

Their you have ladies and gentleman, I cannot make any promises that I’ll update like I should. However, I’ll do my best to make sure that I do! I hope you have a good day and stay classy my friends.

Photo Challenge Days 7,8,9 & 10: Fruit, Bad, Love, Childhood

So…. I haven’t updated in four days, it wasn’t for lack of trying either.  I basically was busy, busy and busy.  I figured now was a good time to update while I watch The Walking Dead.  Day 7 was Fruit, the glorious pieces of fruit.  I LOVE all things fruit, so this was no challenge, except I got to focused on eating it then taking a picture of it.  However, I did capture a couple of shots.

Strawberry’s are my personal fave.

Day 8 brought A Bad Habit.  I happen to have a lot of bad habits, some in which I’ll share and one I will NOT share.  I almost didn’t want to tell the truth on my bad habits, for fear people would down on me.  But, I’m already looked down upon by my fellow brothers and sisters so I figured why not show my true self.  Here is a tiny list of a long list of bad habits:

I’m still destroying pens and pencils…

Moving on, had to take a break to get my hip and butt cheek back in order or in my case a continual work on because I’m falling apart.

Going back to the small list I had, the sarcastic and/or snarky attitude if you will comes into play with a certain part of my life.  The reason are these…

PicMonkey Collage

I understand that MANY people don’t like tattoos, I understand that people are entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, and I understand that one can voice their opinion on such matters.  The problem I have is when some of my own fellow believers speak their mind before thinking.  On two separate occasions I was told by people that I thought I knew, that I had a bad habit of not following God, simply because of my tattoos.  I was told that God must not be working in my life if I have tattoos OR God cannot love someone who has ink on their skin.  Who knows maybe they are right, maybe when I die and come face to face with God he’ll tell me thanks but no thanks and send me to hell.  So the wall of sarcastic is built around me, only because I’ve got other problems in my life, that I already feel unworthy of God that I’ve cried over and adding this is something I’d rather not right now. I know I shouldn’t be so rude, but it’s just hard when were told to not judge others.  If I go to hell simply because of my tattoos… Then I did good, considering the other sins I’ve committed and sometimes still commit are FAR worse then a few outward markings.  With comments like that over the years, I’ve thought about how some fellow believers act towards other people and we are awful when we want to be.. I’m guilty.

I’m trying to be better at not letting people get to me, and toning down the sarcastic nature in me but it’s hard when Christians are rude when they want to be.  I just need to be nice. However, sorry folks the tattoos are staying and more will probably come.  Sorry. I PERSONALLY like them and don’t see anything wrong with them.  If God does.. Then I will take that up with Him when I die. Course with the way my life is going, we’ll have a LOONNNGGGG conversation.

Day 9 was Someone You Love.  Before I say who I love, I want to make myself clear that I love my entire family. They each hold a special place in my heart, and I don’t love anyone one more then the other.. Well my mom and dad get more love then others.  These two people that I love were an amazing couple and I’m so blessed that I got to know them! Both cheeky, smart and clever.  Plus, they gave me a cow, my very own cow that was the coolest cow ever! The couple I’m talking about is my great grandparents, I have a lot of memories with them both and with them alone.  It’s when I was alone with either one, is the best memories I have.  With my g.grandma, it was waking up early to her already in the kitchen sipping on some coffee and eating an oatmeal cookie.  She would then get me some cereal and ask if I wanted coffee, I would crinkle my nose and giggle telling her that was a grown up drink, to which she replied: “It stunts your growth”.  Those mornings we would just talk about anything, I would ask if we were going to the pasture to see Pepe’ Le Pew (my cow). She would ask me about school and my friends.  With my g.grandpa, it was slightly different yet the same.  We would talk about anything and everything, he would ask me if I was married yet, and he would ask if I wanted coffee.  I said the same thing to him, but he replied with: “Eh, it’ll grow hair on your chest.”  One particular afternoon, we were seating at the table in silence until he reach over and lightly tapped me on my arm and held up the comics section.  He pointed to a cartoon strip and asked if I thought that was funny. I read it and it wasn’t, so I said just that. He gave me a little smirk and said: “good girl”.  It’s the little things..

Finally Day 10 brings a Childhood Memory, and I have many of those.  Running around bare foot, riding my bike everywhere, rollerblading, drinking an entire case of Surge and all this with my cool friends!  The first picture represents my time when I dressed like a cowgirl, because I was raised that way.  I LOVED these boots, and wore them all the time.. Had to, my mom dressed me.  These boots were on the pasture to feed my cow and they were also worn in the city.  Just a great pair of pink cowgirl boots.

I’ve had my collection of Barbie’s, Puffalump’s, and random Star Wars and Ninja Turtles action figures. The biggest thing I collected, watched and played was Star Trek.  I was obsessed with Next Generation and the Enterprise.  Basically I was a big nerd and now I’m a HUGE nerd… Or Geek.. Or whatever. Being a nerd/geek is cool now, back when I was little it was not and I got made fun of.  Didn’t stop me, we rule now! These two survived when all the rest of my childhood didn’t, I’m very glad they did.

Photo Challenge Day 6: From a Low Angle

This particular challenge was no challenge at all! I’m a BIG BIG fan of low angle shots.. You’ll soon realize this, I couldn’t help myself today.  Once again they were all taken downtown of ICT, now to be fair their are times that I wish our downtown was a little better.  However, it’s old and in some ways decaying but I like it.. Makes for some good shots with the ol’ camera.

The first picture is of the greyhound bus station… Just BUS.

Right across the street from Greyhound is an old decaying parking garage.. I love the simplicity that the city of Wichita did with these signs.

This next picture is still the parking garage.. It’s the corner of the building.

I traveled a little ways to Douglas to get the next two shots, right on the corner of Broadway and Douglas stands a statue. I took this same picture 11 years ago for photography class… The original is a B&W print, so I figured I’d do the same for this shot.

Lastly, this is another shot I did 12 years ago for the same class.  However, when I took the shot the first time this building was abandoned, It is now The Ambassador.   Amazing what things happen in 12 years.

Photo Challenge Day 5: From a High Angle

Hit up a spot in the middle of Downtown to get these shots, yet I’m not overly happy with them.  Partly it’s my fault.. Alright, it’s ALL my fault. I forgot to charge my battery and thus my camera kept dying when I took a picture.  However I got a couple of shots and even though they are not great, I got out there in the middle of ICT and took them.. With the wind blowing on my face and making my eyes water. If you took one look at me, you’d think I was so overcome with emotion from taking these photos. Sometimes it can be emotional.

The west side… In black & white.

The east side.. In color.

Photo Challenge Day 4: Something Green

Doing today’s challenge almost didn’t happened and it wasn’t because it was hard or anything, I just didn’t feel good.. My head gives me pain more then what I’d like it too.  However, I bucked up and put on my big girl pants and went out to take these photos. Once I got home I then became a big baby and cocooned myself in my bed.

Today’s was easy, I have three different photos to share and funny enough a story to go along with one of them. The first photo is my light saber.. You read that right, my light saber! What?!? Every girl needs one…

I’d like to say that I don’t play with it from time to time.. But it SO fun!!  The second photo is something that I’ve seen and taken before.  I love it so much that I’m taking another photo of it, plus it’s green.  Don’t ask me what it means, if you do please let me know!!

Lastly comes the photo with a story, like all my stories it comes down to me meeting weird people and telling the tale.  This was taken downtown, resides on Commerce street and well known to the local artsy people who partake or go to Final Friday.  I must say that it’s also a rad antique store, full of old used stuff.. In heaven.  I took the photo because the sign was green, plus it’s a favorite spot of mine and also that of others. This brings me to a woman I met by the name of Cathy, how I know her name is simply due to that fact that she literally stuck her hand out and said, “Hello, my name is Cathy what’s yours?” I answered and she giggled at how close are names are.. I gave a small fake laugh (if you know me well enough, you know that sound), she then proceeded to ask what I was doing, I told her and that was that. Wrong.. So very wrong! Out of nowhere, she asked what time lords were.. *Side note: I have a sticker on my Jeep that says ‘Likes Time Lords’* Anyway, she asked and before I could answer her she then went on to tell me that the only Lord was the loving Jesus Christ and I needed to accept Him and take down my sticker because it showed my love for false gods.  Now it’s at this point that I could simply have told her it’s off of a show and that I like JC… But she was snarky with her come to Jesus talk with me and I took the other option.  I told her that Whovian has been around for years and I’m proud to call myself one. I’m now learning the native tongue of Gallifreyan and when I die I’ll take the TARDIS to forever travel the stars with my Time Lord.  After saying all that to her I added, “That Jesus fellow sounds lovely, to bad you were rude to me when describing Him. By the way.. Knock Knock.” Cathy: “What??” Me: “Knock, Knock.” Cathy: “Who’s There?” Me: “Doctor.” Cathy: “Doctor Who?” I smiled, got in my Jeep and left her.

Photography Challenge Day 3: Clouds

To be completely honest, I like clouds they are rather wonderful.  But I’m just not a fan of taking pictures of them to much.  I think that came down to me seeing a cool shape in the clouds one day, but when I took the shot… The cool shape is a blob of nothing, my camera basically told me in that moment that I was crazy with an over  imaginative brain. I’ve considered that I’m either crazy or artsy… I liked to think the latter.

So with that said, this is my cloud picture that I took before I went to work today.  Editing was simple, your basic lighting, color manipulation and BOOM! Photo.

Photo Challenge Day 2: What you wore today

I don’t have the greatest fashion sense, nor do I profess to ever having one.  But I have to wear clothes out in public or chaos will ensue! I like the hipster look a little more then I should and my jeans are always rolled up.. Not to be fashionable, but because I’m short and companies make jeans for extremely tall people.

Even though spring isn’t here yet, I make sure to let winter know that I’m over it and want spring.. Plus it’s way to lovely out so I can get away with wearing spring colors! Also, this is what I wore to go see Jesus.  He’s okay with jeans.
